Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), also known as sexually transmitted infections (STIs), are a diverse group of infections passed through sexual contact. They can affect anyone, regardless of age, gender, or sexual orientation. While some STDs, like chlamydia and gonorrhea, are curable with antibiotics, others like herpes and HIV are chronic and require ongoing management. Symptoms can vary widely, and many people have no symptoms at all, making regular testing crucial for early detection and treatment. Practicing safe sex with condoms and getting tested regularly are the best ways to protect yourself and your partners from STDs.
Our telehealth service is designed for individuals who suspect they may have contracted sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) such as gonorrhea, chlamydia, genital herpes, trichomoniasis, and syphilis. It's an ideal option for those seeking a discreet and convenient way to access professional medical care without the need for in-person visits.
Gonorrhea: Symptoms may include painful urination, genital discharge, and, in some cases, pelvic or testicular pain.
Chlamydia: Often asymptomatic, but symptoms may include abnormal genital discharge, painful urination, and abdominal pain.
Genital Herpes: Initial symptoms can include painful sores or blisters, itching, and flu-like symptoms. However, herpes can also be asymptomatic.
Trichomoniasis: Symptoms may include itching, burning, and redness in the genital area, as well as painful urination and genital discharge.
Syphilis: Symptoms progress through distinct stages, including painless sores, skin rashes, and, in later stages, internal organ damage.
If your questionnaire indicates a potential STD infection, our healthcare professionals may recommend antibiotics as a course of treatment. It's crucial to follow the prescribed regimen diligently to ensure the complete eradication of the infection.
Gonorrhea & Chlamydia: Often treated with antibiotics like Azithromycin or Doxycycline. Side effects may include nausea, abdominal pain, and allergic reactions.
Genital Herpes: Antiviral medications like Acyclovir, Famciclovir, or Valacyclovir are commonly prescribed. Side effects may include headache, nausea, and diarrhea.
Trichomoniasis: Typically treated with Metronidazole or Tinidazole. Side effects may include nausea, metallic taste, and dizziness.
Syphilis: Primary treatment is Penicillin injections. Side effects may include allergic reactions or Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction (flu-like symptoms as the bacteria die off). Second line treatment is Doxycycline.
Safe Sex Practices: Use condoms consistently and correctly.
Regular Screenings: Get tested regularly, especially if you have multiple sexual partners.
Communication: Open and honest communication with your partner(s) about sexual health.
Vaccinations: Stay up-to-date on vaccinations, such as the HPV vaccine.
