TTG Test (Tissue Transglutaminase Antibody Test):
LabCorp Test Number: 165126
Who should get this test: Patients suspected of having celiac disease or gluten intolerance, individuals with symptoms such as chronic diarrhea, abdominal pain, bloating, weight loss, fatigue, or unexplained nutrient deficiencies, or those with risk factors for celiac disease such as a family history of the condition, autoimmune diseases, or Down syndrome.
What's included in the test: The TTG test measures levels of antibodies against tissue transglutaminase, an enzyme involved in the pathogenesis of celiac disease, in the blood. It involves collecting blood samples and testing for the presence of specific antibodies (IgA or IgG) against tissue transglutaminase.
Why someone would check this test: To diagnose celiac disease, screen for gluten intolerance, confirm suspected cases of celiac disease, assess response to gluten-free diet or gluten challenge, or monitor disease activity in individuals with celiac disease.
